Problem with Shockwave on a Free HTML page

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Hi!

In a free HTML page, I am calling a Shockwave movie which is hosted somewhere else. This usually works fine, but after 1-2 days, this page does not work anymore. Then from the administrator interface, when I go to the free HTML WAE where the code is located, and I just click "accept" again, the page starts working again.

However, today for the first time, even this workaround doesn't work anymore, and the page remains inactive. Please advise.

Problem with Shockwave on a Free HTML page

Hello!
I tried, at me works your page in browser Mozilla. Try to clean cache in your browser, can will help. Probably in your browser popups are blocked, then allow popups for your page. Probably browser does not support completely a Shockwave movie.

Roman

Hello Roman,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I did flush the browser cache, but it still doesn't work with Internet Explorer. I also tried it on another PC with Internet Explorer. Same problem... Do you have another idea?

Shockwave problem

Hello!
Your page in a browser Internet Explorer works. I shall try to open in two days your page again in a browser Internet Explorer.
I have looked your page
[http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=18&freePage=306] with META TAG ANALYZER.
META Tag Analyzer Results:
Warning: This Web page contains 3 HEAD Tags. However the document should ONLY contain one opening and one closing Tag for a total of two.
Warning: The page contains 4 of TITLE Tags, but you are only allowed to have one set for a total of 2.
Probably because of it a problem in a browser Internet Explorer.
If does not work only Flash movie, try to reinstall Flash.
Best regards,
Roman

Hi Roman,

Thanks a lot for your feedback, which is very much appreciated!

I have checked the WAE and did not see all those HEAD and TITLE tags in the WAE itself... Also, I have reinstalled the flash player, but the result is the same: I can see the control on the web page, but when clicking on the buttons, it does not work. Can you really see these animation films pop-up when you click on the buttons?

Best regards and hoping to get your further advise!

Hi!
Yes, if I click on the buttons in browser Internet Explorer or Mozilla, I see these animation films. I think, in your browser popups are blocked. Try to allow popups for your page.

Hi!

Thanks again for your feedback. Well, I had switched off my pop-up blocker in the first place, but nothing pops up.

Any other ideas?

Shockwave problem

Hi!
I tested in browser Internet Explorer 7, Shockwave movie and pop-up work. I tried on different computers with different operational systems and browsers - everywhere works. If only pop-up do not open, I think a problem in a pop-up blocker. Try to open a site on other computer for example at the friend.

Shockwave problem

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Hi Roman,

Thanks again for all your actions and verifications! I have done the following.

- Asked my friends whether they can see the animations. Result: works OK!
- Made sure that my pop-up blockers are switched off on my PC (with XP). Result: no improvement.
- Uninstalled and installed the latest version of Shockwave on my PC. Result: no improvement.
- Tested Shockwave with the test pages at Adobe. Result: everything works OK.
- Installed Netscape. Result: no improvement, same as with IE.
- Opened http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/MM-center.asp, which hosts the same animations. Result: OK!
- Tried with another PC (Vista), on the same internet connection. Result: same result: the animations do not open in the Wosbee shop...

I am lost. Help.

PS: Could it be that I am looking at another Wosbee web server? Maybe it works on one server but not on the other server?
PPS: One friend of mine in the Netherlands cannot see the Flash movies either! So I am not the only one with this problem

Still not working

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Hello Roman, do you have any other ideas? Please note that several people, in different locations, cannot open these Flash animations...

Questions

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Hi, thanks again for your feedback! I have tried everything again, but no luck.

Please note that I can see exactly the same animations working on:
http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp

But I cannot see them working on:
http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page...

My friends have the same results now: they cannot see the animations working on Wosbee.

1. Can you see the animations working on both URLs?
2. Could there be an issue with hosting at Wosbee (e.g., works on one webserver, but not on another one)?
3. If you cannot help out, who can?

Thanks.

Hi.
1. No, I can't. I only see animations on http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp page.
2. I don't think it is a hosting issue.
3. Maybe I can help. I added this animation to my test site (http://martv.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=18&freePa...) to see if I can get it work and as it is seen from my test site, it works. So I looked the source code of your site and it seems that the JavaScript is in wrong place, because on http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp it is said that the first 'copy and paste' block (the block with JavaScript) should go between <head></head> tags and the second one (the block with table) between <body></body> tags. If you move the JavaScript between <head></head> tags, then the animation should work.

Shockwave issue

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Thanks a lot for your feedback! However, when I click on your test URL, I can see the animation center, but the animations do not work... Do you still see them working?

(Please note that the animations did work on my site at first, but stopped working afterwards. See the thread of this post.)

I had already experimented with the HEAD and BODY sections. The result was always the same: the animations do not work. (And to be honest, I do not know exactly how to access/create these HEAD and BODY sections. In the free HTML page I have added only one Free HTML element, and pasted both the HEAD and BODY sections in that same element. Maybe that's wrong.)

Any other ideas?

The animation on my test site works

martv's picture

Hi.

The animation on my test site works exactly like the animation on http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp. I don't see any difference.

As far as I know you cannot add (you can add it there but it won't work) HEAD section on FreeHTML page. Login to the admin interface and go Visual -> Themes -> Structure -> FrameFree. There is the template of your web shop, also there is the HEAD section, where you can paste the required JavaScript. On the FreeHTML page paste only the part with tables, do not paste JavaScript there.

-Märt

Still...

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Thanks very very much again for your support!

Indeed, I had already tried to paste the HEAD section at "Visual -> Themes -> Structure -> FrameFree", without any change. That's why I put all the code back into the same HTML element, since there it DID work for some time. Anyway, since it seems to work for you, I now put the HEAD code in "Visual -> Themes -> Structure -> FrameFree" again.

Yet, I have the following situation.

http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp
=> Works OK

http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page...
=> Does not work (anymore)

http://martv.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page&pageID=18&freePa...
=> Does not work (has never worked for me)

Please note that this is the same for my friends (in the Netherlands and in Spain).

So how can it be that it works for you but not for 4 other people? Also, I still find it a bit strange that at first, it worked for me, but then stopped working after 1-2 days. Then, after I re-accepted/entered the content of the free HTML page, it started working again for 1-2 days. Etc. And finally -- this was when I decided to open this post -- it completely stopped working.

Can you access the different Wosbee web servers by using their individual URLs and check if the animations work for you on all of the servers?

Maybe...

martv's picture

Hi.

I noticed one difference between the source code of your page and the one provided on http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp (the part of animation code that goes in BODY section).

On your page:
<embed src="partners_mm_blue.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="247" height="280"></embed>

On http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp :
<embed src="http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partners_mm_blue.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="247" height="280"></embed>

As you can see there are different 'src' values. It may help, if you change the 'src' value from 'partners_mm_blue.swf' to 'http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partners_mm_blue.swf'. But then again it won't explain, why you can't see the animation on my test page.

-Märt

No luck

Thanks again for your quick response. I have changed the src values in accordance with your suggestion, but no improvement...

Can you still see the animations working on your test page?

Can you access the individual webservers to check the animations there?

Hmm, strange

neuro's picture

But i have working animations on the all of three links.

Thanks

hairtransplantplanning's picture

Thanks for checking. Indeed, these are things that make you go "mmmm"!

It again gives me the feeling that the animations may work on one Wosbee webserver, but not on the other webserver. That might explain the differences. Can you access and check the individual webservers? If on one of them the animations are not working, then the problem cause is getting close...

PS

hairtransplantplanning's picture

By the way, I can see the animations on Wosbee work correctly when I access them via http://www.the-cloak.com/login.html. So depending from where (i.e., which IP address) you access, the animations work or do not work. This is not a PC related issue, it seems to me, but must be a web server related issue.

If you browser is ok and you

ignition's picture

If you browser is ok and you don't have any anti virus anti spam programs that block it.
Then can it be dependent on Internet Service Provider?
Perhaps they have some sort of firewall or filter.
Although its very unlikely.

Unlikely indeed

hairtransplantplanning's picture

I do not think this is the case, since I can always (!) see exactly the same animations work fine on:
http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/partner_MM/partner_MM_blue.asp

As I have asked before: would the Wosbee team be able to access the following page on the individual Wosbee web servers?
http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee.com/PublishedService?file=page...

These web servers probably have separate URLS, such as:
http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee1.com/...
http://hairtransplantplanning.shop.wosbee2.com/...

If you can see the animations working on one web server and not on another one, then the problem cause is getting closer.
